Wacom Tablet with Max ?
What is the cheapest system to draw with a pen in a LCD object in max ?
I’m thinking to buy an wacom tablet – I don’t know if the old Wacom object works with the new wacom tablet (I’m on Max 5) .
What is the cheapest tablet who works with this objects?
Thanks you in advance .
the cheapest ones are probably off-brand units, but they’re not guaranteed to work with the objects we use.
I would buy a used Wacom Intuous or Bamboo – having tilt, for instance, is awesome, can can be really expressive; not all units have that. And if you get an intuous with the airbrush tool, then you’ll get rotation, too… just imagine what you could do with that.
Depending on your location, finding an used Wacom Intous (a Intous3 or 4, perhaps) shouldn’t be too hard. Those are great tablets — I’m still using my Intous3. Like:
thanks for your advice .
so normally , the cheapest Wacom (Bamboo I guess) should be work with the maxmsp Wacom Object?
yes, and the intuous is often cheaper used than bamboo, and far superior.
as for wacom object, s2m.wacom does at least work with my bamboo, should perform well on latest max wiht latest wacoms. http://metason.cnrs-mrs.fr/Resultats/MaxMSP/
ok ? it’s the the Wacom Intuos Pen ?
What does this mean?
sorry I posted a link but I didn’t appear .
So what I should choice ?
Intuos Pen or Bamboo pen ?
thanks a lot for all your help
Oh, I see. They used to have two lines: "Bamboo" and "Intuos". Now, Bamboo is called Intuos and Intuos is called "Intuos Pro". Confusing.
I still think you should get a used Intuos3 or Intuos4 if you can find one. Lots of people sell these.
Is the reason I’m getting "s2m.wacom – no such object" only because I’m on 64-bit Max 6.1.2 ?
This happens with a number of older externals I have, and is becoming a bit of a pain; I wonder how many of the hundreds of objects on maxobjects.com are unusable for this reason. Someone recently advised me to just use 32-bit Max6.
Yeah, externals are a pain in that regard.
My group will probably be staying in 32-bit more or less forever – just those few super essential externals can really ground an upgrade, it seems.
I don’t get why the difference between "big numbers" and "really really really big numbers" should have such a profound impact on coding externals. Clearly, I’m not a coder :P
Off now to get Max 32-bit . . .
