waveform display issues with [sfplay~] patch

January 19, 2013 | 7:01 pm

hi

i made this simple soundfile player with 16/44.1 aiff files in mind, and the waveform display sort of worked with those files: it sometimes wouldn’t load the whole file into the display, but only maybe the first minute of it.

somehow, now that i’ve raised my standards and use mostly 24/96 wav files, the waveform display doesn’t work at all anymore.

can any of you see why that might be?

i’ve tried fiddling with the filetype and samptype settings for the [buffer~], but those don’t seem to make a difference.

the issue appears to be with the sample rate or bit depth: wav and aiff files both display at 16/44.1 (except for the times that it will only partially display the file), but neither display at 24/96.

i’m using max 5 under mac os 10.6.8

many thanks for any suggestions on either of these issues!

it looks like a bit of a mess by the way, but only the middle part is normally visible in the user interface, and all the controls are here, in the middle. the waveform display subpatcher is at the bottom right of the patcher.
