I have an old patch I’m building a standalone with (Macbook Pro, 2Ghz,
OSX10.4.10 max 4.6.3, Jit 1.6.23.

This old patch needed to have all of it’s references to [otudp write]
replaced with [udpsend]. Other than that, it’s the same stinkin’
thing. This was created not too long ago (Nov 2006) on the same
machine

When I open the patch in the max environment, it opens just fine. But
when I make a build, I get the message “error:max doesn’t understand
“object”" And the application fails to operate as expected (or at all
really).

If i remove the recently changed objects, I still get the same error,
so it rules that out. ?(Also swapped out a [coll] that was lurking in
there, still no dice)

Anyone know why this is happening?

No patches (old, new, one object, etc.) will compile as a standalone. Same error as before.

i’ve trashed my preferences, reinstalled max, and rebooted the machine. Now what?

Could you post some example of patches, and detailed steps of what
you’re trying to do. Otherwise, we can only speculate.

I was going through my 3rd party externals, removing
them bit by bit, and it turns out it was the gem4max object mappings
that were causing the problem. haven’t looked at _why_, but there it
is.
