Why is C74 trying to phase out this object? Sure, mute~ can do the same thing with the tiniest amount of additional progging, but it's not as convenient or straightforward, IMO.

being still on 4.63 i begin to enjoy [begin~] very much over [mute~] myself. it seems, that for easy operation, mute requires far too many "doodles" around it, and one thing i really don't understand, is why it works only from outside a subpatcher.

one of those 2 cents things, but i am a beginner, as an excuse.

maybe [pass~] in conjunction with [mute] justifies it's existence

I understand that begin~ is an unreliable hack that has caused as much heartache (both inside and outside C74) as aid.

Any of the developers can shed more light than I can, but I suspect they are all sick to the teeth of begin~, and David may possibly regret having ever introduced the object.
