I am just wondering when the Radial is going to be ready for MacIntels approximately?

I understand it wouldn't be smart for Cycling 74 to give a release date, because unexpected delays and setbacks do occur.

But I was curious if they could at least confirm that radiaL will defintely be updated. That'd be good to know.

I'd also be curious to know if any new features might creep in as well?

I mean the featured Radial tutorials on the '74 homepage are nice and all, but I can't use the app anymore!!! :-(

No I'm not going to tell you when it will be ready. What if I was wrong? Then I'd be deep in it....

I'd really like to see a variable randomizing of the sample slices, instead of the current "on" or "off". A small slider that sets the probability of random slice selection from 0 to 100%. This would be very useful for rhythmic samples, and probably just as useful for higher frequency stuff.

Other than that, I'd like to see some deeper built-in modulating and randomizing options, giving radiaL the ability to do more "generative" things. Anything that would allow me to quickly set up less static groups of samples while I'm busy manipulating other samples. I'm picturing a per channel box that allows various modulating shapes, controllable randomness, etc., tied to bpm or slice # setting. Something like a radiaLFO on steroids, with more modulating sources and the ability to be cancelled without destroying the original channel settings.

A little more robustness in dealing with VST plug-ins would be nice, too. I get a lot of bombs changing plug-ins, canceling plug-in windows, etc.

I'll second that. In particular I would love to have the filtergraph 

interface available, and also the matrix.

i've tried the demo and i've had so much fun!that's a great piece of software and is an incredible max patch..for me if it was fully pattr, pattrstorage implemented would be great and i'd buy it now..i'd love to skip through "scenes" of the same project..

Seconded- I'd like to be able to quickly (i.e. one click) store a scene, and later be able to revert back to it quickly with no glitches (assuming the same set of samples and plug-ins are loaded).

Further, it'd be great to be able to store multiple scenes and "morph" thru them, this could be as simple as having a controllable interpolation on the transition time, or as complex as something like the Hipnoscope.

Another thought, how about a panel of "gesture recorders", xy pads that lock to tempo divisions and multiples, that allow you to "on the fly" record a gesture, which can then be mapped (in a repeating or triggered mode) to a radiaL or Pluggobus parameter. I know there are several control plug-ins that will do similar things, but it'd be nice to use this without tying up send/receive lines, and wading thru long menus.

These are interesting ideas, but I'd be more curious to know about possible things to do which are more directly focused on live performance as opposed to the more Live-like "let's do lots of preset-driven things that make the app into a production scratchpad."

Any ideas more along *those* lines? The notion having dice probabilistically triggered is an interesting one.

Agreed. I probably didn't express it well, but those were my goals for the scene saving (or "breadcrumbs") and the gesture mod bank.

The scene saving isn't for saving presets like Live clips (tho I suppose you could do that), more to encourage exploration knowing the performer can rapidly revisit a previously encountered space, allowing repetition when desirable.

Same with the gesture modulation. A complex modulation set-up, derived from radiaLFO or the Pluggo modulators, can add motion and "aliveness", but isn't really set up for live performance. Ideally it'd be great to have a way for a performer to add (and remove) complex modulation and probabilistic variety in a natural, fluid way, without having to preset things. How to elegantly do this, especially the modulation assignments, is indeed a good question...

I'm glad you like the probabilistic dice triggering idea, as I think it'd add a lot of new functionality and expression.

I'm really enjoying playing ("working" just isn't the right word) with radiaL. Starting with just a minimal sample set, I find myself winding up in markedly different musical spaces each time I play.

I appreciate you and Andrew for both taking the time to encourage our input and for evaluating it. I'm sure when the new version of radiaL arrives it will be well worth the wait.

Didn't have to worry about it, untill my screen just fell of bmy "trusty" old powerbook. 

Seems I just have to wait... (for a new computer and radial)

O.K., here's a suggestion that ties into one of radiaL's main performance tools, the circular loop display. Would it be possible to add non-contigous selection of loop parts?

For example, grab the first quarter of the loop, then by option-shift-clicking add the third quarter. The loop would play these two separate selections as one, with no silence or delay between them. If you option-shift-clicked in a portion of the loop display that was already selected, you would be subtracting from that selection. I believe the new Korg Kaos pad does something similar with sample slices.

This would be useful for rhythmic loops, and really open up some new possibilities with melodic loops. High snap rates used with varying multiple non-contigous selections should offer up some nice tones as well...
