where is 0 dB?

May 21, 2012 | 12:16 pm

Hi,

I have a 1000Hz sine wave playing in this patch, hooked up to a meter. Is there any way i can get a read out from the meter showing the level in decibels. Also am i right that 128 is 0dB?

use atodb: (as you can see the convention is that an amplitude of 1.0 corresponds to 0dB)
edit : btw look at gain slider help for how it converts its range to a gain factor.

use noise~ to test such thigns out – sinewaves is the worst you can have for metering.

@josha you’re correct, 128 is the 0dB.
