why is my filter beeping/clicking/farting?

April 16, 2008 | 11:57 am

Greetings,

I have a very simple filter setup using biquad~ and filtergraph~ but when filtergraph~ is set with certain settings I get bursts of very undesirable clicks which sound like beeps or farts or click trails. I’ve noticed this especially whenever I’m adjusting signal connections near my filter patcher or when adjusting signal connections at dac~. This is especially common when filtergraph~ is set to bandpass (although it happens in highpass as well) and when cutoff is in the mid to high range and is louder the higher resonance is set. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
