Why this syntax doesn't work ? "path live_set view this_device live.dial"

Hi, i’m trying to get a direct path to the parameter using the name of the parameter named live.dial instead of it’s number.
What am i doing wrong ?

this works and returns the path:
path live_set view this_device parameters 1

those doesn’t:
path live_set view this_device parameters live.dial
path live_set view this_device live.dial

Numbers are generally used in computers (and real life) to identify objects unambiguously.

And they introduce such a limitations as loosing a pointer to a parameter when the index gets changed after i.e. adding a track or a device. Names are universal.

That’s why M4L (live.object) can follow both the object itself as well as its path. There is no reason to worry or wonder here; M4L has us covered on this aspect.
