Greetings All,
I am trying to connect a wiiremote to my intel mac running 10.5.7 for use with the aka.wiiremote object. I have been able to successfully connect the remote, but the pairing status remains NO. I followed the the steps on http://akamatsu.org/aka/?p=121 and have attempted both the red sync button and 1&2 syncing, these both result in no pairing (although it is connected). Any ideas?

I should also note that I am using the 2.1.6f8 Bluetooth framework. The other noteworthy issue is that after the remote connects it continues to blinking (as in all four buttons simultaneously blinking) and I am unable to connect with the aka.wiiremote object.

Thanks for any and all thoughts.

Cheers~
Christopher

The pairing situation is normal. Pairing properly with the wiimote is problematic because you often need to send non-ascii characters in the passkey, which the OS does not support. True pairing would allow the remote to search out and connect to the computer which is a nice idea, but not necessary. The wiimote hacking community seems not to have come up with a viable solution on most OSes because the bluetooth APIs won’t allow it.

The second issue you are talking about means that you are not properly connecting to the aka.wiiremote object – however, you say above that you have connected to it??. Maybe you mean that the device is connected in sys prefs, but the object doesn’t work? This may well be a stability issue with aka.wiiremote, although I would expect you to have success some of the time.

I’m working on a derivative of this object to improve stability and other issues. You can see more info in the below thread. It’s in testing / development at the moment, but if you’re having no success at the moment, it could offer a better solution.

Have you tried pairing the wiimote using OSCulator? I had the same problem just yesterday trying to pair the wiimote using the system preferences, but I’ve had pretty consistent results so far using OSCulator.
As a bonus, there are wiimote templates and sample Max patches so you can get going right away.

Hello Alex,

I’m using aka.wiiremote-b7 since many month but no concert-patch has been done. Because, the aka-wiiremote is completely unstable for a serious solution :

#1 : if a user push 1 & 2 buttons, the sync is dead and, so, the concert is over ! But i’ve thought about unwire them physically !
#2 : actually, connecting a wiiremote is an array of chance more than a finished process.

I Hope using wiiremote in patches for installation and concert…

Had you fixed a solution ?… I’d like to know more !

Cheers,

jerome

(excuse my awful english)

Osculator is only for Mac and is not free…
Try tk.wii it seems to work once the wiimote is connected with your bluetooth network.

I’ve had much more consistent pairing (Tiger) with the DISIS implementation of the aka wii object. I believe it also now supports wii-fit !
