I have a new install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit running on the BootCamp partition of a new MacBook Pro. A patch I have been working on runs fine in most every way except for errors in saving and building, and also authorization. Whenever I try to save, if I choose the same filename as it previously had, I get the error

jpatcher_saveto: error -1 writing soundCube_0.9.03.maxpat

If i select a new filename I get a Windows error box with Save As as the title and the text

The same Element not found message appears when I try to build a standalone application.

folderwatcher_beginproc: ReadDirectoryChangesW failed

Also, when I try to authenticate over the internet, I get a challenge response screen instead of a screen to enter the serial number. From what I understand, MAX/MSP 5 does not use challenge response anymore, so I don't know how to authorize the system.

Is it a really, really bad idea to try to use Windows 7? It seems like a much nicer operating system and I'd hate to go back to my XP install.
