Windows 8 compatibility
Hi,
I was just about to buy Max, and then saw there was no official mention of Windows 8 x64 (my current, and likely foreseeable future OS).
I'm a little concerned, and surprised that I couldn't find much discussion on this.
Can anyone comment on whether, and if so when there will eventually be official support for Windows 8?
Hmm, while playing with some Vizzie and Jitter video feedback, Max threw the attached error, and gave the 'Max has stopped working' error box before crashing. I have also attached the patch that I was using when the error occured. Should this be sent to an official bug channel?
Specs:-
- Win8 x64
- Intel Core i7-3630QM
- Nvidia GeForce GTX660M with 2GB of GDDR5 memory
- MSI GE60 laptop
- Max 6.0.8
................. I have also attached the patch that I was using when the error occured. The blading.mov file was being used.
Yes, there are problems with Jitter and Windows 8 pro. No jit.qt.movie playback on Max 6.1.3 64bit, and while it works on the 32bit version of Max, it crashes if you make a jit.window. As far as I can tell, cycling74 is not working on this / doesn't have a support plan for windows 8, which is too bad.
@mbosher,
Jitter works fine on Windows 8, in both 32 and 64 bit versions of Max.Your problem is most likely specific to your machine. The 64 bit version is not quite feature complete, and we are certainly working on it, but the quicktime based 32bit version is feature complete.
If you wish to try and figure out what is going wrong, perhaps we can help you in support.
