What I am trying to do with it is use a tap tempo (which seems to work really well) and be able to visualize it's movement through the measures (also allowing for different time signatures). If I was to use more than 16th notes, it would look cluttered and be difficult to check/uncheck individual pieces, and I can just use the beat multiplier to just double the speed to reach 32nd notes, but that seems improper.

What is this doing right? What could this be doing better? If you are a drummer, what more could I do to make this work better with you? (Building this for my band, intending to work with drummer).

if u really want to build it yourself instead of using already suited objects like for example 

 , then u had to build an GUI for that . can u tell me how did u achieved it until now considering UI representation ? its crucial for me to know before i write too much about some of my struggles .

A tap tempo sends the bpm to a tempo object, which sends out the ordered ints. Those ints are sent through gates, outputting bangs sequentially (visualizing the movement of the notes). A toggle is attached to these to decide which will bang. There is another series of gates that represent subdivisions (quarter, eighth, sixteenth, etc), and will bang out at the correct pace and placement. Here is an image if that helps.

 and set its range to [0,1] together with integer output in order to snap between on/off (see multislider help - getting index value) . then u can use its "size" attribute to increase/decrease amount of "toggles" . this is the simplest way to represent steps i believe .

im not able give you advice on the main logic as it seems to me pretty well done already . where are the bulks ?

Mainly I just have a sense that having all of those gates for each subdivision is bulky, but if it is a relatively simple solution to my problem, than I'm glad! Would you maybe have any advice on how to incorporate triplets? Triplets don't fit in with these 16th notes being the highest resolution, they are all falling somewhere between them but can't seem to think of an elegant solution.

yes , i see it ... ok this require some time to crawl through whats already done ... some things should go different way but im not able to build it with you at this very moment . i believe some other forumers that have this particular experience will see your post and give advice . if not , i will try to take time for this with you

Still working some on triplet implementation, but here is where I have it now. Improved a lot from the start.
