Has anyone found a way to automatically write automation data for a parameter using the API? I’d like to create some pattern generation devices.
If Live is running in record mode and you change the values of an M4L GUI object (eg. live.dial), the changes are recorded as automation on the corresponding track.
Or do you mean something else?
I mean using API commands and live.object to automatically write data to the automation tracks, non-realtime.
This information is not part of the LiveAPI. You can not write to it directly at any time at all. You’ll have to automate the parameter, knob or slider from within MFL, which is not very hard to do.
That’s a shame, it would be great to be able to do this. For my particular application automating from within Max is no replacement as I would like the user to be able to see the automation data and edit it after a pattern has been processed. Automating from two places becomes confusing.
