I have noticed that as of Max/MSP SDK 6.0.4 the times~.c project only supports routines for 64-bit processing. This gave me the hope that maybe I don't need to write and maintain both a 64-bit and 32-bit perform routine for each MSP external I write.

I am working on a collection of MSP externals in Max 6 and on each of them I have implemented my perform routine to work at 64-bit, however I have not implemented the same routine at 32-bit. In other words each external responds to the "dsp64" method but not to the "dsp" method. Now, in Max 6 it works great, but what happens when my externals are loaded in Max 5? Will my "dsp64" routine still be added to the processing chain with conversion from double to float at the outputs, or it won't work at all?
