Writing Timestamp Metadata in WAV header

May 1, 2009 | 12:38 am

What I want to do is grab CoreAudio’s ‘Timestamp’ (samples since midnight) at the moment recording begins and embed it within the audio file’s header. Does anyone know what I’m talking about, and how to implement it via MAX?

You can try searching for "audio regions" or something similar. I asked about the ability to read region data already in an audio file and make use of it in MSP. I would still *love* for this to happen, but the sense I got from the replies was that it was very difficult, if I recall correctly. That surprised me some, but know very little about what’s involved with the whole thing. Please report back if you’re able to crack the case.

Best,
Brian
