Will the Universal Binary version of MaxMSP also make the $1000 licensing fee for Windows stand-alones a thing of the past? Perhaps it doesn’t make much difference… I don’t know whether the libraries used to port Max originally were more to do with x86, in general, or with Windows specifically. Anyway, just curious about that…

Hi,
also, will they embed ppc64 along with ppc and i386 flavour? I think at
least the maxmsp core and sdk should have all three, to enable users to
build new objects with optimization for each processor.

Regards,
Chris

The Intel version has nothing to do with Windows and as such has no
effect on the Windows standalone commercial license fee (non-commercial
standalones have never been subject to any fee). And we have no plans
to support ppc64. Does someone really need to write a Max external
that accesses vast amounts of virtual memory?

If we could, we would.

Sorry for responding to a rhetorical question, couldn’t resist.

Of course MacIntel is, for better or worse, the top priority. For
everyone except the Windows folk.
