Eobody2 is an analog-to-MIDI device from Eowave

Plug & play USB interface which is plugged directly into your computer, so you can use sensors with your software sequencer. The new version can also be used without a computer via the MIDI output. High-speed USB significantly reduces the latency. And 12-bit resolution avoids ‘scale effects’ which allows a nearly linear conversion curve. Sensorboxes can be plugged directly into your computer or into a USB hub (if you want more than one).

It is a versatile solution for musicians and performers. You can trigger and modulate sounds and videos, and create new sensor-based instruments with no computer programming background. The Eobody2 sensor system is not only limited to musicians and performers. Other applications include healthcare apps, car simulators, fireworks triggering, robotics and step motors control. With the Eobody2 sensor system, all these application types will be directly accessible with the appropriate module.

Eobody2 HF is a wireless sensor interface from Eowave

HF stands for “high frequencies”. This interface is composed of 1 transmitter and 1 receiver. The transmitter enables you to connect 16 sensors which can easily be placed on dancers or inside objects or instruments. The receiver is directly connected to the computer via USB. The architecture of the system is 1 transmitter for 1 receiver. It is possible to connect 16 receivers in the same area for a total of 16×16 sensor inputs. The distance range between the transmitter and the receiver is 30 meters indoor to more than 100 meters outdoor.

If you only have jack sensors, you will need to adapt your sensors with a jack to 3-pin adapter. Most of the Eowave sensors are also available with 3-pin connectors. However, the Electrotap sensors (sold by Cycling ’74) need to be altered. If you are skilled in altering sensors, you can use a products like these to make a 3-pin connector for the sensors you already have.

A system that let’s you scratch anything from Baby Talk FX

With Ms. Pinky’s Interdimensional Wrecked System and Max/MSP/Jitter, you can use a turntable to scratch anything. The system consists of special records (1 black, 1 pink, 1 pink/black combo, and 1 splatter) in conjunction with software. You connect one or more turntables through a phono pre-amp to your computer’s audio input or audio interface. The downloadable Ms. Pinky’s Maxi-Patch software lets you scratch audio files and QuickTime movies.

If you want to go further and develop your own scratching performance system, you can use Ms. Pinky’s Max/MSP objects that analyze the audio from the turntables playing her records and produce “control signals” that can be applied to any aspect of an interactive audio or video application: file or movie playback, synthesis, DSP effects, spatialization, or 3-D animation. Or all of these, all at the same time. You can even sample the scratching signal, record it to disk, loop it, or retrigger it.
