Gesture Granulator

The name Gesture Granulator speaks for itself. It was a granulator created in max/msp that can be controlled by body movements captured by webcam. It was part of a university project, which involved creating an interactive interface for the manipulation of audio.

The video demonstration uses the input of an clean electric guitar signal, with tracking of both the head and fret hand. There were some issues with losing tracking of movement, but a new method has now been established and accuracy of tracking has improved.

There are plans to create and release an ep created using the gesture granulator this winter.

How did this project use Max?

Every part of the project is made in max/msp

Amazing. One of the more creative and mind bending uses of granulation I’ve heard. Cool project.

Thank you Drew. Currently I have not made the patch available, as I will be using it to make an ep in the coming months. However, in January I am planning on making an improved version available for others.
