[edit] Using the decide object

The decide object is one of several max objects that can be used to make random numbers. When it receives a bang, the object randomly outputs either a 0 or a 1. Like random and drunk it can be set with a seed value to create reproducible sequences. If no seed argument is set, it uses the time elapsed from system startup as the seed value.

[edit] decide Tutorials

While decide is not explicitly used in any tutorials, you can look at random and drunk to see some of the possibilities for using randomizing objects.

[edit] decide Tips and Workarounds

Sometimes it can be useful to have a sense of the probability of decision making or to have an adaptive layer to random decisions. This patch uses the random and split objects to create a weighted probability.

This patch uses the decide object in conjunction with the prob object to create an adaptive probability table for choosing a 0 or 1 and allows you to save the probability table with the patch so you can continue where you left off.
