I'm a little confused about how exactly the "change" object works. According to it's help prompt, it reports a 1 when the signal increases and -1 when it decreases. This makes sense when hooking a Phasor~ up, but not when a Rect~. Change seems to report correctly as is, but when the signal goes through a "< 0", it shows true on both increases and decreases. What am I missing?

It becomes more clear maybe after making a recording and zooming in on the signal where the change happens.

I still don't understand what is happening. It seems to me that when the rect~ goes from -0.5 to 0.5, it's an increase and change~ should report 1, which the < 0 shouldn't show as true. From what I can see, change~ is showing "1", but the <0 is also showing true. I don't understand why.

If you look closely, the rect~ wave is not geometrically perfect. See the help file, it's an antialiased waveform, visually it sort of rebounds every time it changes states. It sounds better but for this purpose it adds the problem you're seeing. Use instead the phasor~approach that's being compared in the 2nd tab of the rect~ help file.

I had wondered about that. I saw little glitches using scope~, but wasn't sure if that was just a visual flaw. Thanks for the clarification!
