i am currently in the progress of "downgrading" my soundfield composition patches to MacOS9.

until now the stuff ran on an XServe 8 core - programmed in max 4 but running in a max 7 runtime.

because these older computers are simply not fast enough for working with channel formats i now have to break it into smaller parts and make everything into small modules (you already guessed it^^), which then will only be used one by one, or even in nonrealtime mode.

my format is the following: 2D, 10 speakers or 10 virtual speakers, circular, equal distance (36º), and it is a pure channel format - i dont use custom recordings, everything in generated in max, the 10-channel format is originated from mono source channels.

export format is either these 10 channels - or i create stereo sums using binaural+, prosonic ambisone or virtual speaker simulation plug-ins like the ones from sennheiser/eigenmike/whatever. each which creates their own character and, in the case of ambisone, allows various additional effects which can be used with different setting per soundfield event (first reflections, alternative elevation hrtf)

i usually ignore standards... but i am wondering if it wouldnt make sense to also export to a classic ambisonics b-format (which in this case would be W, X, Y). 

how i would convert arbitrary (circular arranged) channels into W, X, Y?

wouldnt i loose all the cool effects which are not compatible to a "true" soundspace format because the describe surreal rooms and stuff?
