I've made a 14-bit USB-MIDI DJ-style crossfader which is working kickass-ly, but I realized that although I am internally filtering repeated values before splitting into MSB/LSB and sending across as two separate CCs, that if I only read the MSB (like a "regular" MIDI controller), that it would be spamming the same value while the LSB is sending.

I will be using the fader primarily with Max, so if desired, I can just filter the repeats there, but in trying to generalize it out, I'd like to actually know how 14-bit MIDI is supposed to be handled. Especially since I presume part of the appeal of it is "backwards compatibility" , where the MSB acts like a regular MIDI CC.

I've not worked with any 'real' 14-bit MIDI gear before, so can't really check to see what it sends.

If sending 14-bit (MSB/LSB) MIDI messages, can the code filter out repeats in the MSB and expect the receiving device/software to still make sense of what's happening AND/OR is it bad practice to spam repeated CC messages (i.e. 121 121 121 121 121 121, while the LSB changes).
