aka.wiiremote instability

    Apr 02 2008 | 12:29 pm
    Hello,
I'm having great instability using aka.wiiremote on my G5 dual 2 Ghz and PB G4 1 Ghz, both with OS X.4.11 and Max 4.6.2
Random connect possibility, random (and rare) ir reception, no led lighting with the "led" message", no vibration, or vibration without "off" control when connecting... Only thing that works pretty fine (when he manage connect and don't disconnect by itself) is the acceleration and position tracker)
searching the list, I can read ones advising for the use of OSCulator and others reporting aka.remote unreleased bugs on ppc, but my problem seems realy enormous.
any confirmation, or other idea ?

the best thing to do is check out OSCulator
it installs a kernel extension that makes Bluetooth connectivity rock
      solid

the problem about connecting is the same here on a G4 PB 1.33 10.4.11 and even on a mac pro 3,2 dual quad with the latest 10.5. But once you

I've only got the wiiremote (no expansion device) on a dual processor G5 2Ghz and on a PowerBook G4 1Ghz, both on OS X.4.11.
and I need to track Infra Red light.
I thought I've found a solution yesterday buy updating the internal Bluetooth driver to 1.2.1 (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bluetoothfirmwareupdate121ppc.html),
and it did work very well between 22 and 23 hours (every thing was working perfectly - ir, vibration, led, extraoutput).
This morning, it's true connectivity is much more accurate and stable but no way to get nor vibration, nor led, nor ir output.
      and it's getting me mad.
but I wish a sunny day to every body

      Hello again,
since the last post on this thread, I've bought a MacBook Pro with Leopard 5.2.
... and still have the same problems:
it doesn't connect until I re-present the wiiremote to the bluetooth preference panel, It freezes when i push the connect button, and doesn't connect every time, most of the time, even connected (receiving data from the wiiremote button) it doesn't send ir and extraoutput data, nor receive vibration instruction...
I thought things will getting better on intel mac but no way.
All that stuff is a great waste of time before working, and avoid using the system in a fixed installation.
does any body can confirm me for sure that the issue is on osculator before I buy it ?
      thank's again

Osculator will run in nag mode(for free). Why don't you try it yourself?
      Best,
      Zip
BTW. Osculator worked fine on my old Tiger/Max 4.6.3 system, but I
haven't tried it yet with Leopard/Max5

I just downloaded the latest Oscualtor version. It immediately
recognizes my wiimote on pressing the 1 and 2 buttons, and MIDI cc is
easily piped into Max 5.0.2. This doesn't say anything about
reliability in a performance situation, of course!
