Algorithmic Composition Patch

    Mar 17 2011 | 12:34 pm
    Hi all,
Can somebody help me please!? I need a very simple/ basic, algorithmic composition patch. One that can simply be turned on and it plays. If anyone has one they could possibly send me it would be much appreciated!
    Cheers.

Thank you very much for your replies. Thats great!
If anyone has a slightly more complexed one though, or can tell me how I add another sound (instrument) that would be great.
(Sorry I am new to Max MSP and may come across stupid)
      Thanks.

you need to do the tutorials, search in the File Browser for "Midi"
Simple Example with random GM program changes:

oh,well, perhaps that is not exactly a kind response to our noobie here, M. '110'... "slightly " more complex, right, uh-huh...
the real point is that our beginner should study the tutorials. Learn how to control more than one instrument in midi, then with your new knowledge of max from the tutorials, it should be quite simple to set up an "algo-comp patch that controls two different instruments". And the final point is that you will understand it far better if you learn and do the work yourself. The tutorials and basic midi knowledge are really enough. Just study the tutorials!! g'luck cfb aka j2k PS: remember, with max, you can save your own copy of any tutorial, open it up, and mess around with it (edit it)! As long as you are careful to not edit the original files, this is a great way to learn!!!

i tried to give him the most minimalistic example above, and the next thing we should tech him are probably [gate] and [click~].
[midiformat] is lesson 3 then, reading the tutorials is lesson 4 or 5.
