Analysis/Synthesis for SDIF

Can anyone recommend good software for analyzing sound files to use in CNMATs objects? I'm about to give loris a shot, I couldnt seem to get useable SDIF files out of SPEAR.

Spear has been great for me.
Audioscuplt, and the analyzers in Diaphone (Resan and Addan) are all fine, although you have to rent them from IRCAM.
What has been unusable about the SPEAR files; maybe I can give you some tips?

I'd like some tips on using the SDIF files that SPEAR saves. I've
      been using SPEAR to manually extract partials from various recordings;
using copy and paste into a new file to create new sequences and
spectra - it would be good if I could take these results into msp but
don't know where to start with that
      cheers

We did a few classes on SPEAR data operations awhile ago, you might
      want to look at these:
      http://music.columbia.edu/cmc/courses/g6610/fall2005/week11/index.html
Caveat, though -- the "spearsynth" max/msp externals in the week13
link are pretty badly-coded (done more for pedagogy than for actual
use), and they are old CodeWarrior examples. The "week11" programs
are standalone unixy things that modify the SPEAR data files.

Excellent thanks, I'll take a peak at that :). It's mostly possible I just didnt know what I was doing when I used it before. I'll give it another go.

You should look at the Spectral Tutorials I wrote here:
Especially SDIF. This is a format that SPEAR can export, and can be read with the CNMAT Max objects.

      Hi Brad,
Max fails to recognise the spearsynth~ externals. Have they been tested on max4.5, OSX10.4?
      best regards

No, these are old and unsupported. Mainly there for the code if any
one wants to do anything with them. Sorry!
