i cant seem to get the followig problem tackeled..

So far i have a very working phasor based grainsynth/drumcomputer. From this two main phasor~ (nicely windowed) desighn i derive short ([delta~][

i want to gate the main phase at command so i can manually turn on off. But i dont want to use control rate becouse i want to be able to retigger automaticly too without loss of accuracy.

i cant seem to get an audio spike to be converted to a sustain period good for adsr~, without avoiding bang based linelike stuff. also it must be able to retrigger wihin overlap (monophonic midi like midi like).

would be greatly apreciated if someone one could help.

Well, that's a lot of info that can be misinterpreted. If there is a way for you to present a simplified patch, I believe the chance that you get an accurate reply increases dramatically.

In general I can say that using an audio spike instead of a bang is never an option; it's not the way things work in msp. In my experience, when you are replacing a bang based part, most of the time you need to think in terms of multiplying~ by 1 or 0.

I think I figured out what you're trying to do. I'd say there are only two options, one signal based and one event based. I added them both to your example patch.

In general if you want to define 'an amount of time' in signal domain there has to be a direct relation to another (periodic) time generator. Otherwise an event has to be generated independently, which is not in signal domain.

Anyways, have a look at the patch and I think you'll understand.

If you want to have everything in signal domain, only option 1 will do, so you'll have to calculate the amount of time that the gate is open relative to the sync phase.

Dank je voor het voorbeeld, it's a funny approach :)

But in this case too, the start (and thus the stop) moments depend on a bang, which occurs in event domain. To stay in msp, you'll always have to derive time from a (looping) reference signal like a phasor~ or groove~ sync out.

Btw, mostly in a case like yours I go for the event-based approach.
