if anyone has a version of my Granary project, could I ask for a small screenshot (or even an ASCII diagram) of the inside of an abstraction called [pitchNsize] (I think). I can't remember how to scale grain size by pitch factor, without varying the grain duration. I'm plugging away at PD here (no Max atm) and even though I remember that it was really simple - I can't remember what I did !!

I made a MFL instrument out of this with a midi triggerable amp envelope and optional midi pitch control. There is also a version that can continuously record into the buffer. Are there any restrictions that go along with posting it to maxforlive.com?

Hi, many thanks for this. Restrictions? If you mean technical ones, I've never made a M4L device so can't offer any advice. Ethical restrictions? None whatsoever, fill your boots, as we say in Norn Iron. I'd love to see your versions if that's possible.

Hay Brendan, Here is a link to it. I'm easily confused so I removed the scrub feature from the interface, but I added GrainSize and Gliss control and Live sequencability

Most things are automatable, but I sometimes have problems with Start. Very strange.

I made a much simpler, non-midi version here. The times next to the On button determine a fadin and fadeout envelope when you turn it on and off.

ps I just noticed that there's an old unused email address inside the gen code.

pps I have 'ported' Granary to PureData (pdl2ork) running on a tablet; sounds ok. I plan to convert it into Supercollider code too, for the Bela.

I just noticed in your earlier comments that you were having a problem with 'Start' - let me know if you need me to investigate ;)

Thanks Brendan. Unfortunately I don't have gen so I can't change the email address. I was hoping to make it stereo, but I think I need to edit the gen patch. Do you have a stereo version with the new email?

I fixed the "start" issue. The [ parameter_range 0 $1 ] msg box needs to be [ _parameter_range 0 $1], the underscore at the beginning is required. If you do this, you can get rid of the [attrui] object.

I also fixed an issue where the playback head would pause at the end of the sample before looping back to the beginning. The scrub counter was counting up to the "loopstart plus length" even if this was past the end of the file.

I've always wanted to get into supercollider, but I get too confused with filesystem organization of actual coding environments. Maybe one day.

Thanks for the heads up re [attrui] and looplength ;) I tend to build such things on an ad hoc, evolutionary basis, rather than a presribed mathematical strategy, so apologies for the occasional algorithmic errors - well spotted!

SC is great fun btw, and a relatively transparent gateway into audio/control programming concepts, and for a non-CS type of learner/developer I found it quite easy to get into.

Hah, no. I have Live 10 with "Max 8". Its supposed to be a full version, but no gen editing yet.
