Can i access a buffer~ from a max external and do some manipulations on it or do i have to build a MSP object ? I won't have any use of signal inlets/outlets and my object will not perform anything... Any advices ?

It can be done from a Max (non-MSP) object, but I wouldn't do this. Sooner or later you will be using soemthing like t_getbytes() which will CRASH (in Runtime) when called from a non-MSP external. At least that's what happened with Max 4.3/4.5 and non-Mach-O externals.
So as a rule: when you need to include z_dsp.h to get something going, make a real MSP external!
