anyone know if this camera sensor:
could be made to work with arduino or miditron and jitter?
    or
...are there similar small/inexpensive camera sensors that could work?

This is not really a "sensor" per se, but a small camera. As noted on the website, there is no documentation for the device, so I personally wouldn't recommend it unless you have experience dealing with similar components. You would probably need to program your own microcontroller device to work with this. Check out the forum link provided on the product page and you'll see what I mean. For the amount of time, and list of components you would need to get this functioning, you're better off using a standard webcam.

you cant do much with just this 20$ bit. you need a driver cirucit to push the data of the sensor into a computer readable form. check the threads there for diy solutions. i dont nkow your needs but better buy a cheap vga camera or if you need direct input to a microcontroller. try http://www.beyondlogic.org/imaging/camera1.htm or http://www.seattlerobotics.com/cmucam.htm
