This is closest I've been able to get by reading the documentation:

Atom[] args = new Atom[]{Atom.newAtom(1)};

MaxBox foo = p.newObject("toggle", args);

I think this creates an invisible toggle object of type MaxBox and even gives it an argument of 1 but then i have no way of getting data from it's outlet. In Javascript, this is relatively easy and I feel like I should be able to do this in java, no?

It would be great if I could borrow some of the complex, low-level, DSP from certain objects but keep everything inside my mxj~ object.

Can I create "invisible" max objects inside an mxj or mxj~ and use them for computation like in JS?
