Ok so in this patch I have a gridshape captured to a texture which is sent to a videoplane. The idea is to be able to move the videoplane around and for the videoplane and the gridshape to respond to lighting when they are in a new position. However, the lighting on the gridshape behaves as if the gridshape is still in the center of the drawing context.

1. Does anyone know how to get the gridshapes lighting to change when the videoplane is moved, please?

2. Can someone explain to me why the jit.gl.sketch object is needed for me to be able to turn gridshapes on and off, please?

Any help on the above questions would be greatly appreciated.

Still have not found out a solution to the above. Does anyone have any suggestions for me, please? (Rob Ramirez?)

1 - that's just not how capture to texture works. the lighting is calculated on using the position of the captured object, not the position of the object that's displaying the captured texture.

2 - you should use jit.gl.node @capture 1 instead of jit.gl.sketch

Max 8 now supports node specific lighting, so you could have a specific light for the objects in a capturing node context, and move the light inversely to how you more the videoplane to get a similar type effect, i think.

Hey thanks for the quick response Rob. This is definitely an improvement.

Currently the sphere receives light on it when the Z value is increased. However, the idea is to have the light fixed in the middle which when rotated on the Y axis to look at the sphere, it receives light.

Do you have any suggestions on the above for me, please?

Captured gridshape on a texture is not responding to lighting when the videoplane or light is moved around.
