i made an external to import audio tracks from a cd to a buffer~. As
there's still no cd support in max/Msp for windows, it is an attempt to
provide one. It is written in python and runs through the magnificent
[pyext] object, which is a python wrapper for max/Msp, by Thomas Grill.
You wil need at least /python 2.4/ installed, and an additional module
Luckily, it's really stable, and really fast ! When the device is
"cold", it takes 5s for importing 2 megs and about 30s for a 4-5min
file. Same or faster than Sound Forge, and already in your buffer~ !
When it's turning, it's even much faster. Last but not least, it doesn't
interrupt MSP process while importing...
Before asking for people to test it in its alpha stage, i wonder what do
you expect from such object. As i usually don't care about audio cd, i
only made it for the max community and just in case i'll need it some
day. So my features are basics yet : import, seek, clear/save temp
files, multi-device support...
I know some of you still use audio cd, so what features do you think
should be implemented ?
