I have a distance sensor ( midi ) connected to my computer. I want to change the speed and volume of a song according to at the distance given by the sensor. The smaller the distance is the faster and the stronger I want the song to play. I am absolutely clueless on what to do. I am able to play the song with the sfplay object and I have the distance value with the ctlin object but I don't know how to use the distance value to change the speed or volume of the song.

I have only been using max for a couple of days and I actually don't know how to change the volume which is kinda embarrassing! I can change the speed my using the speed input of the sfplay object but I don't know about the volume... Also, thanks for the hints, I think it makes sens to convert my values in a different range and to apply some conditions for the speed and the volume depending on the value.

converting 0-127 into decimals will be difficult :) but you could try using [/ 127.] and [*~ 0.]
