I am working on a delay abstraction in which I would like to incorporate a send/return FX loop (kind of like Electro Harmonix's Memory Boy Deluxe).

I would love it if the behavior of this send/return loop was much like the channel insert on a mixer or a patch bay, meaning that the signal is "normalled" internally to the delay line when the send/return inlet/outlets are not being used, but automatically routes the incoming return inlet to the delay line when there is a signal present.

I know that there are all kind of comparison operators, but I was wondering if there was a way to detect whether ANY signal is present so that I can have a selector~ automatically switch over when there is audio signal present at the return inlet.
