In normal gen codebox we have the buffer object for arrays which works nice. However, this doesn't seem to work with jitter gen objects (I get a compile error when trying to put a buffer in a jitter gen codebox).

I'm wondering is there another way to create an array and size it inside jit gen?

Can I use just a normal "vec" 1 plane vector to store data like array?

There's not documentation it seems on data storage within jit.gen. Maybe because it's really easy and I'm missing something reallyimportant?

So surprised that there is no solution for arrays in jit.gen? I thought it would be possible to port c code to jit.gen but it seems much more difficult than normal gen because it does not have Data and Buffer as a method of storage.

What I'm hoping to do is to simple have an array where I can store any float value higher than 1. (does jitter only deal with up to 1.??)

I'm wondering if this isnt possible is there any way to pass values between two different gen -> jit.gen - would this be a solution? Perhaps creating a buffer and then turning it into a matrix?

why don't you use a texture
 as an array?

yes, in a (jit.gl.pix) codebox you can imitate an Array over a Vec.

I'm wondering how I would use this in a codebox? Would I have a matrix/texture going into "in2" with my array in it and then access it inside a 1 dimensional vector which is scalar?

Maybe can I use a jit.buffer to put a texture into in2? Then fill the buffer outside?

Are there any example patches to show data storage in jit.gen like this?

if you're feeling adventurous you can check out the gl3 package, and look at the Texture Buffer Point Lights example (tf.pl.disco.duck). This demonstrates how to turn a jit.gl.buffer data buffer into a texture buffer that can be easily sampled in a shader using a simple index value (using the texelFetch operator).

obviously not a jit.gl.pix solution, but maybe something you'd be interested to explore.

I'm wondering how a texture can be used as an array? Can I have a matrix and a texture coming into jit.gl.pix? I though its not possible because they have to be the same size on both inlets?

Using vectors to imitate an array? Is there any example of this? I'm just trying to store data like this? It seems the example given I can only add up to 4 items in the array? How do I access elements of the array?

Not sure why this is so hard, or why there arent examples for what seems like it should be an easy task...
