I am trying to have objects move around while a camera moves around them with its own independent motion looking at them. Problem is that I want the objects to produce trails and the trails not to be affected by the movement of the camera. Also the camera motion should not cause trails to be produced. I can create a jit.gl.node and capture the object motion and then use slab to slide through frames. This works if I did not have to add the camera motion. I understand this is complicated because as soon as I do treatment on a texture I lose the ability to do 3d transformation such as a change in perspective. I am wondering if there is a solution to this that can be pretty much based on GPU processing. I attached a patch

What people usually do is add a little alpha between frames.

Hi Michelez. The effect you're using is doing trails in the rendered image itself (2D). Since you are moving the camera, you will want to see the trail from different perspectives, so the trail itself will need to be in 3D space, meaning you will need to build a 3d geometry. The jit.gl.path object would be a good candidate for that purpose. I think that with careful texturing (white to transparent), the visual result could be similar to what you want.

you would have to do it with geometry. i would use jit.gl.multiple for this, updating the position, scale and transparency of the trail objects each frame.

Thanks Pedro and Rob. I got the thing to work with meshes since it seems like the least expensive way of doing it. For coloring I use a jit.gen -> 1-norm.x
