Hello everyone. I've been learning max/jitter for over a month now and so far so good but I hit a wall.

I've got a jit.gl.pix setup that works fine until I try to separate the window logic into a subpatcher to make it reusable, as well as making the jit.gl.pix reusable. I get "ob3d has no scenegraph". It does work fine with jit.pix though.

My end goal is to have several abstractions for the jit.gl.pix objects where each one generates a different texture (for example a gradient ramp, a grid, etc), and to have them be completely independent of the way in which the textures will be later processed/viewed. Similarly I also want my window/viewer logic be an abstraction so that I can do things like automatically detect size, automatically set visible/hidden, etc.

that error usually means you need to provide a drawto context to a jit.gl object.

if the gl objects are in the same patch (or a sub-patch) of the drawing context (jit.world, jit.window, jit.pwindow), then this drawto does not need to be set explicitly. however in other cases you must provide that argument.

in your case the jit.window is in a sub-patch, and the jit.gl.pix is in the parent patch and therefore unable to find the jit.window. simply give the jit.gl.pix the drawto argument, e.g. [ jit.gl.pix view ]

Hey Rob, thanks for your answer. While your solution works, I haven't been able to get consistent results. I simply added "view" (without the quotation marks) to jit.gl.pix as the argument and it did not work until I plugged something else into my [p window], at which point jit.gl.pix started sending output again. And then if I set it to a different context via message "drawto context_name" it stops working, even if I set it back to view until I plug something else into the [p window] and then plug jit.gl.pix there again. Is there a known issue? Am I missing something? This is such a frustrating behaviour and the console doesn't help at all.
