I would like to produce this effect: a light that comes from the back of a 3d space coming through a pierced plane. Pretty much some rays of light the position of which is determined by the coordinates of the plane's holes.

The attached patch does the first step: a plane with some missing parts. I use @drawing_mode points since if I use other modes the holes are not correclty drawn: that would be problem #1. Problem #2 is that the light is not really filtered by the pierced plane (the two problems are probably related).
