Flam / Roll object

    Jun 25 2006 | 2:12 am
i made this patch that does rolls of up to 64th notes with control from the pitch wheel.......when the value is first set the first note is off with the second, but then after it goes fine....can anyone look at this patch and see why it doesnt' sync the first two notes?
i think it might be because the of the bang from the tempo...?

more or less something like this:
an object can be an external, javascript or subpatch. it's the little squares you use all the time in the patcher window.
an abstraction is just a patch, a .pat. these can also be used as an object, then it is a subpatch.
an external is an object coded for a specific task, either in C, java or arguably javascript (js)
these can be added by third parties.
a collective is a selfcontained group of patchers and externals.
a standalone is a collective with max-msp runtime included so you can run it without max installed.

set search path in options>file preferences
the c74 folder is included by default.

Textbook answer: anywhere in your search path.
The real answer: there are a thousand answers.
What this means: in a factory Max/MSP installation, the following
folders are automatically in your search path:
      MaxMSP/patches
      MaxMSP/Cycling '74 folder alias/externals
(The second one may have a slightly different name on Windows).
These folders are searched recursively (that means: Max also searchs
in subfolders, subfolders of subfolders, subfolders of subfolders of
subfolders, and so on for ever and ever world without end).
Additionally, you the user can define additional folders for
searching. Use the File Preferences... inspector from the Options
menu. Some people create a "3rd Party Objects" folder somewhere on
their hard disk and add it to the File Preferences. Others put an
alias to that folder inside one of the standard search path folders.
Yet again others just dump everything into the /patches folder (not
      the best solution).
If it's an external, you can just double-click to install it.
Put your objects in any of the above-named places. See what I mean
      about a thousand different answers?
There is documentation for all this stuff. For instance Max Getting
Started p. 27. I know there's a lot to work through, but it is there.
I'm assuming you went through the documentation and missed it. Happens.

If it really says "objects folder" somewhere in the Max
documentation, send a note with filename and page number and
somebody'll fix it. I can't remember ever seeing the phrase "objects
folder" anywhere in the Max/MSP docs. But I, too, am human and can
      forget things.
      Hope this helps,
