      funny, I was about to ask exactly the same question ! ...exepted that I'm on Intel mac : so no shell UB yet, as far as I know. I tried with aka.shell, but it just says in the max window : "aka.shell: no result" and... no result.
      any idea ? maybe an applescript ?
      thanks

      applescript (---> tap.applescript) :
      tell application "MaxMSP" activate end tell
      so easy ! :-)

      the phrase 'tell application "MaxMSP" to activate' is AppleScript so it will work with tap.applescript from http://www.electrotap.com/ taptoolsmax/ which is UB (and highly recommended)
      another approach is to use a shell script that runs outside of max, for example
      #!/bin/sh while true do open "/path/to/your/standalone.app" ; sleep 10; done
      I use this as a watchdog script, it will open the app if it is closed, and it will put it in front if it is already open. it hardly takes any CPU cycles as the shell script sleeps most of the time.

      salut mathieu,
      maxobjects.com is not quite up-to-date on this count: jeremy bernstein ported shell to UB and since Max 4.6.3 it works both ways. available here: https://cycling74.com/twiki/bin/view/Share/JeremyBernstein
