I'm working on a patch that allows a drummer equipped with MIDI triggers to "reveal" the notes of a clip. 

The idea is to have a clip playing in the background, and when a trigger is received, the current notes on will play. Notes off from the clip always happen. I'm struggling with dictionaries, but I managed to have a working patch. 

However, my tests showed that the process I'm using has significant latency. 

Any idea about how to improve it would be welcome. 

(if you're wondering why I'm collecting the note data in dictionaries instead of using the midi of the clip directly, it's because it will allow to shift notes to the left so the "early" drummer's hits will still trigger notes).

i'd try using 'coll' instead... (coll pushes/pulls data and indexes things in a more readily accessible way, dict uses some extra overhead for the way it formats and such... i'm not explaining this well, but i read something like this elsewhere on the forums(i think from Luigi, in the dev part of the forums))... i'm not entirely sure of this, but that's what i'd try next.

I went straight to the [dict] solution, because in L11, the new API call for notes outputs a [dict] format, so I assumed it was better/faster/whatever. Also I like the fact that you can use the "---" naming to give [dict] a unique name, that's handy.

But I'll try the good old [coll].

I think the main problem of your patch is the Live API. By design running at low priority it induces unpredictable latency depending on other activities of the Live set.
