grabbing from database?

Hey again. Ive been playing around with opening video and images and quicktime.
i was wondering how i would go about opening a single video from a wider selection of files in a database? maybe playing them randomly?
is it possible to use a metro to cause a bang at the end of each video to open another file randomly?

i took a look at the helpfile...its a little confusing as i am new to the environment and dont really understand all of the commands.
      what exactly does loopreport do?
      what is coll/random urn?
can anyone explain these to me?
      thanks,
      Dan

Yes, the tutorials can explain. ;) coll is a simple database object, random puts out random numbers, and urn puts out non-repeating numbers. Once you do the first few max tutorials and read the Fundamentals pdf, things will become clear. Good luck!

You're not kidding when you mention The Maze.
      Thanks again,

      you are welcome.
this kind of thing comes up pretty often on the forum,
here is another way searching the forum suggested by somebody ( whom i dont recall the name, apologies to the author ) which can be pretty helpfull :
for instance a search on the word "folder" :
      folder site:synthesisters.com
      folder site:cycling74.com/forums
learning max will take some time so read the tutorials and hang in there :)
