How to adapt hostsync~ frequency

Hello, it's a naive question i guess but i cannot figure out a simple way to get hostsync~ go slower... i need to synchronize with an host and instead of the quarter notes i need to synchronize to the whole measure beat (e.g. four times slower for 4/4 ).. Thanks Alberto/JesterN

Just sample hostsync~ output once every 4 beats. There are many objects you could use.
      counter cycle select
All could be useful for this.

Hi Fairesigneaumachiniste, you mean every four samples? Maybe i'm a bit stupid on this problem: if i take a value every four samples i get less values, but still get values from 0 to 1 that repeat four times in the interval of time in need one increase from 0 to 1. If hostphasor~ goes up 0-1 in one second, i need values from 0-1 in 4 seconds. Moreover i need a signal not values to drive my other objects, e.g. i don't want to downsample. But maybe i understood wrong your answer.... A

      Alberto,
      Check out rate~

hostsync~ is not a signal rate object. If you look at the help patch you will see that the second outlet outputs on the bar whereas the third outlet outputs on the beat.
Did you mean hostphasor~? hostphasor~ outputs a ramp from 0-1 over each beat. Does this help?

      Can't you simply use [rate~] ?

      !!!!
Yes, use rate~. Rate does what my patch does but I'd completely forgotten about it!

Yeah sorry for the mistake i meant of course hostphasor~.... yesterday was a busy day;)... yeah rate~ its' perfect i didn't know it and now everything is easier! Thanks owen and fairesigneaumachiniste Alberto/JesterN
