I am using the LiveAPI javascript object this way :

api = new LiveAPI([callback], [path] / [id])

When a property changes on that LOM object, the "callback" function is called.

Is there any way to un-register and/or update this callback function without restarting the device?

I have the need to update the callback function without restarting the device.

Simply calling "new LiveAPI(.." again does not work as it keeps the previous registration and I end-up with two active callbacks.

Same question here! Are there any known ways to change the callback function or can it only be set at initialization?

Just happened upon this and got curious. You can't change the callback directly AFAIK, but you can alter what the callback itself does to get the same effect:

var api = null
function bang() {
    api = new LiveAPI(callback, "live_set view")
    api.property = "selected_track"
}

function callback(args) {
   subroutine(args)
}

function subroutine(args) {
   post("subroutineA", args, "\n")
}


function changeRoutine(bool) {
   if (bool) {
      subroutine = function(args) {post("subroutineB", args, "\n")}
   } else {
      subroutine = function(args) {post("subroutineA", args, "\n")}
   }
}
