I have a few lists of numbers. And they keep changing. Let's say we have:

The thing is that if a list stops coming, I would like to know. What is the method to automatically know if the list starting with 2 stops coming. For example to get a message somewhere that is stopped updating. BTW, it disappears completely when it stops updating.

Is there a solution? I've been banging my head for hours now.

I'm using timers in similar situations. Let say, if I have a datasource which is changing at least once per second and since the last change a longer time has passed, I conclude that the data source has stopped working.

Delay brings back terrible memories from when I was starting to patch. Brrr. I think it does not have priority as a message it might be bound to fail. Maybe I am wrong. But for sure I really appreciate your help, Floating Point!

yes you are wrong; delay actually turns low priority messages into high priority

I see. I used to use delay a lot until I discovered trigger :) 

And delay got me into a lot of troubles back in the days. ;))

And the same with delay instead of the timer:

I recently had soenthing like this - my solution might not be the most elegant but seems to have worrked. I had the number going into a smoothing object . When the number stopped coming the number fell smoothly to zero (or whatever ) and when the value = 0 I got route to send me a bang.

Is there a way to know if a message is not coming anymore?
