Is there a way to turn a .mov into ascii and display it to a jit.window
      ?

      Check out jit.lcd-ascii-art.pat.
And please post Jitter questions to the jitter forums.

p.s. there was in fact a jit.ascii object written by Ben Nevile,
which was in a beta version of the software, but never released
(since it is relatively easy to patch together). There my also be
freeframe plugins which have a similar effect.
