jitter matrix over ethernet

    Hi!
    I would like to capture video on a separate computer and send it to the other one over ethernet.
    i tried osc, the netsend object by olaf mathes and the bixcp.from/to externals...
    with bixcp.from/to externals i was at least able to send a jit.matrix but only with very limited resolution (56x25)...
    does anybody know how i can manage this? is it possible with osc to send jitter matrix data? i?m using jitter 1.2.

      Jitter 1.5: jit.net.send/recv , jit.broadcast, and jit.qt.broadcast.

      thanx but is it really the only solution? is there no low cost solution for a poor student?

      You can also use the QT Broadcast APP from apple if you do it ouside of max/jitter.

      56x25 was a hardware limitation of the Graz Medienfassade.
      The bixcp.* objects have been overhauled and reincarnated as lbj.bixpack and lbj.bixunpack in the Litter Bundle for Jitter preview. Now the limiting factor is the amount of memory that Max can readily allocate, so you can handle matrices of just over 32,000 pixels. There are strategies whereby I could extend this even further, but since Jitter 1.5 this is no longer a high priority.
      The new objects are available for both Windows and Mac OS (OS X as well as OS 9-and-earlier). More information at the URI below.

      LBJ is not free, but it costs a lot less than the Jitter update. It also includes a few other items.

      Hi Peter,
      Not really sure what your trying to do, but only yesterday my housemate and I were successfully using jit.net.send and jit.net.recv to send live webcam data at pretty high frame rates via ethernet between a powerbook and a mac-mini.

      Only yesterday you were using Jitter 1.5.x. Flo Spier is running Jitter 1.2 and does not have jit.net.send/receive. Maybe you missed that.
      Over and above the fact that the LBJ objects run on pre-1.5 Jitter:
      - The lbj.bix* objects are more light-weight then the Jitter 1.5 objects. In my experience they buy you a performance gain.
      - The lbj.bix* objects offer the possibility of exchanging data with non-Jitter systems. The BIXCP data format is open and compatible with the popular CCC Blinkenlights format.
      I *never* disputed the functionality of the jit.net.* objects. Not ever. But not everyone has Jitter 1.5 and there are other ways of transferring video over a network.

      Sorry Peter, I hadn't noticed that the current Jitter was out of the question. Think I was just so impressed with the capabilities of the jit.net objects I wanted to tell someone about them!

      hey thanx for your answers! so jitter 1.5 would be the solution... but i have to know if there are other ways of transferring video over network... i have to ask my university for buying jitter 1.5 so I should be sure...
