I need a single, large rotary encoder for a research project I'm conducting. Can anyone recommend one that has a nice large-ish knob that provides a continuous, smooth movement, and plays well with Max on Windows via USB? I've seen things like the 

 but can't tell from the description if I can use it for things other than adjusting a computer's audio volume. I also found the 

, but prefer a flat orientation if I can find it. Any suggestions and recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Griffin PowerMate USB or Bluetooth, Contour ShuttleXpress. But I didn't try them, no personal experience.

Thanks for the suggestions, Ben. I had looked at those two. From what I've read, the Griffin apparently doesn't support any Windows system since XP. The Contour ShuttleXpress would probably work, but for the sake of this research project, I'd prefer a simpler "big knob" kind of thing. Thanks!

They're pretty expensive, but depending on your budget the Monome Arc might be ideal for you.

they have a single knob, too (and a duo) but it is like USD 300 which is quite an investment for a ... knob.
