LFO controlling Ableton track PAN clicking/popping
Hello
I am currently trying to set a max for live lfo to control panning on a track in ableton. I have tried the midi and audio based LFO, tried applying to the primary track PAN as well as the PAN on an ableton Filter Delay. No matter what I do I seem to get constant popping/clicking ontop of the audio signal being panned (must be a smooth sound like a voice to notice). The popping seems to be lessened if the rate of te LFO controlling the PAN is lowered however clicking and popping still occurs as long as the two are linked. I have also tried playing with ableton latency settings which seem to have no effect on reducing or increasing the frequency of these pops/clicks.
I have also tried running the control signal in MAX through slide~ and rampsmooth~ objects but this doesn't seem to have any effect
Is anyone aware of a way to link up a max for live device to control PAN without this constant subtle popping/clicking?
I'm running ableton in windows 10 on a surface 4 pro
Thanks!
Hard to say, I am not using ableton at all, but in max, that clicking/popping sound would happen
if one tried to control for example {*~ } using float, instead of signal based line~ with some
ramp.
So what is Your Pan controller ?
A Device inserted in a Live track, having input, pan control and output ?
What waveform has your LFO? Just did a quick test controlling a track pan, and with the 'sine' waveform I get completely glitch-free sound until a rate of about 5 Hz.
Hi Whitelobster. Did you solve this problem? Have the same issues with M4L controlling several parts (eq gain, mute etc.). Sounds like chains og small digital clicks.
Did anyone ever find a solution? I'm having the same problem, with the default LFO device for M4L, as well as the TED FX device from the K-Devices Modulators Live Pack.
For me, it's happening when I'm map the LFO to volume or pan - presumably anything. With volume, I've tried device volume, track volume, and even gain on the Utility effect.
I've also tried all sorts of buffer sizes in Live settings.
Running Live 9.7.7 and Max 7.3.6.
