Today i saw Live 9.5 is released and it seems to be a major update. I am still running Max 6.1 in all my Live Sets. The reason is that i have quite a lot of compositions and performances that use a lot of custom M4L devices, many of them not frozen (for several reasons) und almost non of them (ui-) updated and tested in Max 7 yet. I simply don't have the time for it right now...

I would appreciate a lot if others would share their experience using Max 6 with Live 9.5.

... also still running OS X 10.9 for the same reason (lack of time to test and adapt other custom software I use for live performing - so it has to be dead-stable...).

Maybe someone from support could chime in as well?

Did you try it? I don't think there's a problem unless you're trying to use some new content which relies on the new Max 7 features...

No, I haven't tried yet - I'd would like to verify as much as I can before upgrading, not to be in the situation to have to downgrade again, hence my question ;)

Slightly off topic perhaps but: It is true that Live 9.5's release has produced quite some noise (a little pun intended) and it also comes with some very specific new tools such as the enhanced Simpler device as well as the new audio filters. But honestly I think that if you're short on time then Max might be the least of your worries. For example: although it is a bit of a moot point I noticed that the new Simpler device was less responsive than the previous one (a M4l patch which controlled & automated the clip start time now made it so that Simpler couldn't keep up anymore).

I haven't heard much doom stories and I sincerely doubt that my shown example is a major issue, but depending on your liveset it could have some influence. Especially when there's a lot of interaction between Live & M4l involved. So with that in mind my advice would honestly be not to update "just because", especially if you have work relying on it. Not without proper testing anyway.

Can't comment on Live & Max 6 because I moved directly to 7.
